We are a small infant school consisting of 57 pupils:- 22 Reception, 22 Year One and 13 Year Two. Each class has a classteacher (or two jobshare teachers) and at least one teaching assistant supporting them.
As a Church of England Voluntary Controlled school the beliefs and practices of the Church of England are fundamental to the life of the school. However the Headteacher will make arrangements for the supervision of children whose parents wish to exercise the right of withdrawal from religious worship. Parents also have the right to withdraw their child from RE lessons.
We are fully inclusive and welome all children into our school regardless of any diffficulties they may have. There is full disabled access, including a lift and disabled toilet.
Ours is a happy friendly environment in which the children are nurtured, cared for and given every opportunity to reach their full potential. This is achieved by a committed staff who work as a team to provide an exciting, stimulation and enirching curriculum, which ensure that our children not only develop basic skills in Literacy and Numeracy, but also become well rounded independent individuals.
We have achieved the Healthy School Award, the School Achievement Award twice for excellent results at the end of Key Stage One and achieved the Investors in Pupils Award in 2007.
There is a very effective system in place to track the progress and assess levels of attainment of all our pupils and we pride ourselves in knowing and understanding the differing needs of every child in our care.
We believe strongly that the successful education of the children is brought about by the strong partnership we have with parents, who support us and their children in many ways. The parents/friends group is a flourishing group who work hard (and have fun) raising funds for those 'little exras'! Parents are always welcomed into our school.
Our pupils too are encouraged to have their say via our 'School Council' which consists of eight children, democratically chosen by their peers, and who meet fortnightly to discuss any current issues and make decisions in an effort to further improve practices.
We feel that the foundations laid at our school are strong and firm for the children to build on throughout their education.
